Key Information for Instructing Parties

  • To assist in your initial selection process, we provide:
  • Conflict of Interest checks: These are performed immediately upon receipt of a formal enquiry, advising regarding conflict of interest before accepting instructions.
  • Appointments: We can offer timely assessment dates and in certain pre-agreed cases, accommodate urgent appointments/reporting.
  • Locations: While our primary clinical offices are located in Westbourne PO10 8UJ, we can accommodate assessments at key strategic hubs—including regional venues such as Medcentres Plus, Salisbury SP1 3SL and Medical Rooms London SW1W 0DH. Home visits are possible in certain pre-agreed cases. See below for further information regarding the venues we routinely use.
  • Reports: Our turnaround time is typically 10 weeks from the date of the clinical assessment, subject to the timely receipt of a complete, paginated medical bundle.
  • Experience: Dr Maddicks and the broader administrative team bring almost 30-years experience of working with solicitors, priding itself on accessibility, effective communication, transparent costs and high quality expert reports, attending conferences with Counsel, preparing joint statements and providing oral evidence in Court.
  • Assessment and Reassessment: Each instruction received is appraised in terms of case specific information, including clinical (stage of recovery/treatment, other expert assessment) and legal factors (litigation timetable/Court deadlines), to allow for timely assessment/review, accurate psychometric profiling and reporting.
  • Claimant/Defendant Ratio: Instructions are 80:20 claimant to defendant, although all reports ensure an objective, strictly CPR-compliant framework.

Your Formal Letter of Approach

  • The primary area(s)/question(s) to be explored within the formal instructions.
  • Approximate volume of the claimant’s records.
  • The claimant’s current location and likely assessment venue.

Additional Information

We will provide further information to instructing parties, claimants attending appointments and those supporting them where appropriate. We typically undertake a pre-assessment telephone call 2-3 days preceding the arranged appointment to confirm practical details and address any questions. If the case has particular, specific needs/requirements, we would be grateful to receive these in the Letter of Approach and Instructions. We can provide home visits or appointments at ad hoc clinical venues in certain pre-agreed cases.

Due to the nature and length of neuropsychological assessment, often including detailed clinical interview and lengthy psychometric testing, they are increasingly taking place over two, separate appointments. Where possible, a detailed clinical interview can be undertaken via video call with formal assessment being undertaken face to face. However, this will be determined on a case-by-case basis, often following communications with yourself and where appropriate, the claimant.
