Lucy is a HCPC registered, chartered clinical psychologist with 20 years' experience working in the NHS and private practice. She offers assessment and therapy for adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety disorders (phobias, panic, health and social anxiety), OCD, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, single event PTSD and supporting people through challenging life transitions.
Lucy completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2006 at Salomons/Canterbury Christ Church University. Her training included working with adults and children with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, obsessive compulsive disorder and childhood difficulties. She has a particular interest in anxiety disorders and completed her doctorate research investigation into different Cognitive Models of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
Using an evidence based approach, Lucy draws on a range of therapeutic models to tailor the therapy to the need of the individual. She mainly works from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework, integrating elements of Compassion focused therapy (CFT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and short-term schema therapy. She will work collaboratively with you to help explore how and why you struggle and enable you to understand and manage these challenges more effectively. As you learn to step back from your difficulties and the distress caused you will be better able to discover new choices that can help change your life.
She offers a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk in confidence at our clinic in Westbourne or online. Her clinics are currently held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
